This is a coalition

We created a show to start discussion specifically about the topics that are unique to the stand age.

Why are we obsessed with sharing online?

One of the three like basic human needs. It's like to feel like you're wanted, or that you belong to something.

We care about status

If you're told that your status depends on you being funny or you being smart

or people paying attention on how many friends you have

then like the feedback reflects your status

Everybody wants to feel wanted

Everybody wants to feel like they're the leader and have all these followers

And everyone wants to feel "liked", double tap

I think we're living in a culture that the ultimate reward for most people is attention

So now whenever we do anything it is for that. I mean

the only thing we value is eyeballs on us

And that, my friends, is exactly why we're a culture that's addicated to sharing our lives online.

because eyeballs have become the new currency.

But for the first time in history, studies show that we actually care more about what we share than what we own

And there's no sign that this trend is ending anytime soon.

Five million images are uploaded to Instagram every day
Instagram

575 of which are liked every second

Nearly 175 million tweets are sent per day on Twitter.

And the average Facebook user create ninety pieces of content per month

It's almost like, a metaphor

for lives that we have yet to discover we could lead

You know you post you tweet because you can

You know that you got to something because it's your opportunity.

We're starting to understand the unique power of a post

and I know what you're thinking. It's social media it's not that deep

But, with most of us spending three and a half to seven hours a day

on social platforms that could potentially reach a hundred and fifty thousands strangers

Maybe it's time that we stop and think twice about the effects of how much we share online

The more you start putting stuff on there, the more easier it is to share something you might not want to share

that might not really be public information

like you forget who you're sharing it with cause you're not, you don't have the committee in front of you.

I think people forget how public it is.

If you have a social platform, then everyone else who follows yours in the world becomes your audience

and you become an artist or performer or on display in somewhere shape of form

So everything you do should be compelling one way or another

I think it's really interesting in the idea of writing an autobiography

We all are writing our own autobiography now

We forget that someday our grandchildren, unless we deactivated the account, are going to be able to go back

and look exactly what we did and we can actually get a clear picture of what our universes is really like

What kind of story are you telling online?
